Liberating Self Expression
Fear of Public SpeakingPresentations and public speaking have been consistently found to be amongst the most feared activities for people.
Even the most articulate can be affected by inhibitions and stage fright, especially if they are presenting in a foreign language. This is natural, but so are the techniques we use to help people do justice to their material and convey their ideas with personality. We have observed that the ego often stands in the way of fluent expression. |
Forget the EgoThe ego judges you as well as others. It is constantly comparing and checking. It is constantly telling you that you are better than others and that you need to prove this time and time again.
This state of mind puts intense pressure on the speaker to produce and impress. Ironically, such self-inflicted pressure, lessens the chance of performing well, because it moves the focus from the material and audience onto the speaker. This leads to self-consciousness and self- judgement. |
Our Promise
Our promise is to liberate course delegates, helping them to find their natural and authentic communication style. In order to do this we nurture another set of instincts - our natural ability to play and then our curiosity can be engaged and released.
Our workshops apply the principles of advanced co-operation (improvisation) which bring to the fore participants’ spontaneity and cooperative spirit - freeing them from self-criticism, and enabling them to be more natural and spontaneous. They also foster participants’ instincts for cooperation that enhance their listening skills. Emphasis is also placed on developing peoples' emotional expressiveness; body language, tone of voice, rhythm and pitch are all major facets of effective communication.
There is no ideal or perfect template which people feel they have to aim for. They are encouraged to be themselves at all times. We also place great emphasis on developing all-round communication skills (from formal to informal) rather than focussing solely on ‘presentations’.
